Lazulite is a rare stone. Its colors vary from a mottled pale blue to dark blue. A transparent lazulite crystal is pleochroic, showing blue and colorless. However, it is often not transparent. Semi-translucent or opaque stones found as small fragments may be polished, carved, or tumbled to make beads or decorative stones. It is common to find a lazulite stone in the form of a bipyramidal structure.
Occurrence
Lazulite occurs in Brazil, the USA, Sweden, India, Switzerland, Austria, Angola, and Madagascar.
