Blue Kyanite is the most prized variety of stone. The deep blue color is especially valuable. Blue Kyanite is commonly used as an imitation of blue sapphire. However, it is less hard than corundum, i.e., 5 or 7 on the Mohs scale.

Occurrence

Blue Kyanite occurs in India and Myanmar (Burma).
